Weekend Getaway from Hyderabad

Nagarjunasagar:

Nagarjunasagar is a dam constructed on the border of the Nalgonda and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh. It is the tallest and most prominent dam in the world and the second-largest water reservoir in India.

The beautiful green surroundings of the dam, as well as the structure, leave you awestruck. This dam attracts visitors for boating, fishing, and photography. Although the relics and landmarks have been moved to Nagarjuna hill, an island in the reservoir, you can still see the historic Buddhist excavation sites near the dam.

Mahabubnagar:

Mahabubnagar, formerly Palamoor, is named after a former Nizam of Hyderabad. This town, the fabled source of the Golconda diamonds (which include the renowned Kohinoor), is close to Hyderabad and home to several historical and religious attractions.

There are many temples in the town's vicinity, including those in Umamaheshwaram, Alampur, Jetaprolu, and Srirangapur. A 700-year-old banyan tree, whose enormous branches cover over 3 acres, is another popular tourist destination. One of the most stunning waterfalls in India, Mallelatheertham, is located in the Nallamala forest region.

Adilabad:

This location is exciting and beautiful, and you can see crocodiles swimming in the River Godavari. Mavala Lake, built under the Nizams' rule, is just outside of Adilabad, and a lovely park adjacent is ideal for a picnic.

The Kuntala Waterfall, one of the most stunning and pristine waterfalls in this area, is situated in the Neradigonda Mandal of the Adilabad district. This waterfall, which originates from the Kadam River amid dense forests, cascades down from 150 feet with the finest grace and beauty.

Your must see the Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary in the ancient Adilabad district and the Sivaram Wildlife Sanctuary on the banks of the Godavari River, which runs through the district. The Basar Saraswati temple, which honors the goddess of learning, is located near the confluence of the Godavari and Mangira, about 130 km from the city's core. This temple, where Ved Vyas had performed penance, was built during the Chalukya kingdom.

Belum Caves:

If you are in Hyderabad, spend the weekend exploring India's longest and second-largest caves. Belum caves' expansive chambers, which are only dimly illuminated and create a tense atmosphere, will make you take each step with bated breath.

These caves' stalactite and stalagmite formations date back over a million years.
